unnoticed

She was waiting for the train after work one day, when she heard a father nearby scolding his little girl. She couldn't really hear what it was about, just the angry mean tone, so she paid them no attention.

Getting on the train, the family of 3 happened to choose the seats right across from her. Thats when she realised that it wasn't a family. It was a mother and her young daughter, with the mother's boyfriend. This was obvious from the different ethnicity of the man, plus the little girl's disapproving glare sorta gave a good hint of her clear distaste towards the man.

Now she couldn't help but watch the 3 of them. The mother had her arm around her daughter, but her body was turned towards the man. The man had his arm around the woman, and didn't give the little girl a single glance. And so the daughter sat there, on the side. Staring at her necklace, playing with her dress, with a sadness in her eyes.

Once or twice she would catch the girl trying to get her mum's attention. "Mommy..." she'd say, looking up at her mum with hopeful eyes, excited to share something with her mother. And her mum would ignore her, keeping her attention on the man. As she watched the girl, her heart broke and tears came to her eyes. The little girl's head dipped a little, the sadness returned to her eyes and her bottom lip stuck out a with a tremble. And she continued to go unnoticed.

done-zo

Maybe I did something wrong, if so I'm sorry.
Maybe I bore you, if so then I get it.
Or maybe there's no reason, I can accept that.
I just cannot try anymore.
